My son, Nathan, is a young boy who has a huge heart for all things nature. Aside from his love for animals, he also has a deep appreciation for the colors and textures of the sky. From the time he was a year old, he has been captivated by rainbows and sunsets. He always noticed and pointed out the colors in the sky after it rained. As he grew older, the more aware of them he became.
This past fall, I decided that we would bring his rainbow to life in a picture for him. We drove out to a nearby field with tall, wispy grass of tans and pinks and set up for a photo session that would be a creative adventure. I set up the ladder, placed a paintbrush in his hand and instructed him to "paint the sky". He felt a little silly at first, but when I described what my vision was for this photoshoot he was more than excited and willing to play along. During this photoshoot, I took pictures of him playfully using his paintbrush to make pretend strokes in the sky.
Later that evening, I loaded the images that I took on to my computer and searched for the one that would work best for this child's photo. A soft rainbow was then carefully placed in this picture using a rainbow overlay and Photoshop. The end result was a beautiful, piece of artwork that is to be printed, framed and placed on the wall in our home.
