When I took the photo of Nathan "painting a rainbow" in the sky in November 2022, I thought that it would be just a fun, single picture expressing a boy loving rainbows. It never crossed my mind to do it as part of a series. I was content with the way that it turned out and was content to put it on the wall the way that it was. However, the more I looked at this picture, the more I loved it. So much in fact that I wanted it to be more. So last summer I started planning out what the next part would look like.
In November 2023, with a cheerful boy, art easel, paintbrush and canvas we set out to do part 2 of this series. Luckily the sweater was a bit big on him so we were able to use it again. I took the picture that I had printed on a floating framed canvas and set it up on the art easel. We went to the same location as the year before and I took pictures of Nathan "painting himself, painting the rainbow". The pictures turned out equally as fun, providing a simple continuation of the original moment.
Now I find myself asking, should I try for a third part in this series?
