Miranda had a simple but specific wishlist for her senior pictures: a barn, a horse, a lake and a sunset. The sunset was most sentimental to her so I knew that I had to make this happen for her in a special way. I had never met her before this photoshoot but after it was over, I felt such pride for her accomplishment of finishing high school early.
Our adventure kicked off by a quiet, serene lake, a perfect canvas for the planned silhouette pictures. The reflective waters mirrored the joy of a high school graduate on the brink of new beginnings. As she stepped into the cold waters she let her dress down and turned around toward me for her pictures. A little nervous at first but she soon warmed up, relaxed and let the moment unfold naturally. I hope that the pictures we took will bring her the same peace and stillness as the lake provided to us at that moment.
Next, we drove to a rustic barn, where Flicka, a graceful, white horse, entered the scene and joined in the photograph journey. Miranda enjoyed giving her new friend treats and her new friend happily accepted them. Everyone was enjoying themselves. Even the barn dog, Harvey, happily photobombed the pictures. It was clear to see how much this girl loves animals. It was so much fun that we could have stayed at the barn for the duration of the photoshoot but had to move on to the most perfect location that I had in mind for her sunset pictures.
With a final change of outfits, we ventured into an open field on a hill with tall grass. I surprised her with a sweet bouquet of flowers that I had hoped would be sentimental to her. They were the favorite flowers of a passed loved one to whom she was very close to. Between the flowers and the sunset we were able to give her the pictures that she was hoping for. I am looking forward to following her journey and seeing what the future holds for her.
